Although the large user's manual might look scary at first, we quickly got to grips with the layout of this image editing program. The number of menus and different design tools can seem a bit daunting, but after some practice it's very easy to use.
The content is aimed at everyone, whether you're a professional user or just someone who wants to touch up your holiday pictures. As a result, there's a huge range of functions available.
If you bought a digital camera so you could escape from endless amounts of photographs stacked in the cupboard, you'll love the slideshow facility.
You can choose which photos to put in the slideshow, how fast you want them to appear, and in what order. You can also personalise it with sound, background colour and various effects to mark the change between slides.
Prior to creating a slideshow, you can edit each picture. There are lots of tools available to do this, from simple cropping and rotating to a red-eye corrector and special effects. Some of these tools are not so easy to use unless you're used to them. There are also quite a lot of technical details, which a novice will have to battle through in the user's guide.
Having said that, you can also experiment easily with the special effects simply by clicking on the appropriate icon. Any changes you don't like can easily be reversed and you can always compare the original with a preview. Effects include oil painting, pencil drawing and negative.
If you are new to digital cameras, you'll appreciate the easy navigation around the program and the help you get with acquiring photos from your camera to create CDs.
