Microsoft has struck a deal with 11 original equipment manufacturers to preinstall its Windows Live OneCare security suite on new machines across North America, Europe and Asia.

Windows Live OneCare is Microsoft's 'all-in-one' security and malware protection suite for consumers and small businesses, offering tools that automate and simplify PC management and performance.

"Consumers have told us they want an easier, more automated experience with the security and overall health of their PCs," said Amy Barzdukas, senior director of Windows Live OneCare at Microsoft.

"Through these alliances, we are addressing the needs of new PC users who want to easily protect, backup and maintain their new PC right out of the box."

The deal covers 12 countries and includes hardware providers MDG Computers Canada, LEO Gesellschaft fur Computer & Kommunikation, Wortmann, Olidata, Hyrican Informationsysteme, Sotec Company, TICNova Quality Team, Sony Corporation of America and Toshiba Asia Pacific.

"Microsoft and Sony share the same goal of helping our customers get the most from their PC experience," said Xavier Lauwaert, manager of Vaio product marketing at Sony.
