European firms plug in IP phones

Strong sales of IP phones are driving growth in European business telephony equipment sales, according to new research.

Frost & Sullivan's European Business Telephony Endpoints Markets analysis estimates that IP phone sales currently account for around half of the value of the European business telephony endpoints market.

"Long-awaited IP phone sales takeoff can finally be observed on the market and it is driving the telephony endpoints market," said Frost & Sullivan research analyst Dorota Oviedo.

"As many businesses have migrated to IP PBX after converging their network, they are increasingly taking action to expand IP deployments.

"This is impacting different categories such as IP desk phones, soft-phones, SIP phones and wireless IP phones."
