Apple has closed its software development and support office in India just two months after its opening. 

The company opened the centre on 17 April, announcing that it would house 600 employees.

By the time of the closure it employed 30 workers, according to a report in The Times of India. The fired employees received two months' severance pay.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Times of India claimed that the computer maker had re-evaluated its plans and that it will open support facilities in other countries.

Apple still operates a sales office in Bangalore with 25 employees.
