TeleWare touts mobile office solution

Firm promises mobile access to PBX-style functions

David Neal, V3.co.uk 29 Sep 2009

TeleWare, a provider of packaged communications software, has launched a new system that it claims brings a desk phone experience to mobile workers.

Offered as an on-site or hosted system, TeleWare Mobile Office provides access to PBX-style functions, such as call recording, and provides easy-to-use administration tools for remote workers who still need access to office-like call features.

Teleware said that handsets running Windows Mobile 6, Symbian 5/6 or BlackBerry could run a mobile client that offers functions including short-code dialling, conferencing and call transferring.

The company explained that, as well as increasing mobility, TeleWare Mobile Office allows for financial savings through the use of least-cost routing, which means that calls take the cheapest possible route through available networks.

The call transfer system, meanwhile, means that calls can be switched to a cheaper alternative like a home phone, as long as it is nearby.

"Mobile users have, until recently, had very little choice over how their telephony services are provided," said TeleWare chief executive Steve Haworth. "There is now much greater choice, and no changes are needed to the existing telephony infrastructure, as Mobile Office works with any PBX and any carrier network."

The system is available now.
