Virtualisation tools to be bundled with management offerings

Enterprise storage specialist EMC has agreed a new partnership with virtualisation specialist VMware, which will make EMC an official reseller for the VMware vCenter AppSpeed management software.

EMC said that it will offer the virtualisation tool bundled with its Ionix datacentre virtualisation platform.

EMC hopes that, by combining the two products, the Ionix platform will be better able to manage and handle combined physical and virtualised datacentres.

"With EMC Ionix, customers can efficiently and effectively manage the full virtual and physical datacentre ecosystem across networks, storage systems, servers and applications," said EMC Ionix vice president and general manager Jay Mastaj.

"Working together, EMC and VMware are empowering customers like never before to take advantage of virtualisation to improve the way they manage their entire datacentre."

The two companies also plan to combine efforts on new migration services to allow enterprises to transfer a database from individual server units to larger virtualised datacentre hardware.
