Health website Clickmango.com, which announced its closure last week, has earned an eleventh-hour stay of execution.

The company said it still has enough cash reserves to continue operating into September, rather than close at the end of August as planned.

The announcement follows favourable outcomes after negotiating contract terminations with Clickmango's major creditors, including MSN and Exodus. The news has also sparked a boost in staff loyalty, with site traffic quadrupling and sales jumping by 20 per cent in the last week.

Staff at the health and beauty e-tailer, which is fronted by Absolutely Fabulous actress Joanna Lumley, have pledged to stand by the company until the end. Lumley faxed a heart-shaped memo to the Clickmango offices, telling the staff they were "wonderful" for sticking it out.

Clickmango co-founder Robert Norton hinted that the extra month might give the troubled company time to find a partner.

"We're feeling cautiously optimistic that an extra month of operation might give us enough time to conclude negotiations with one of the many blue-chip white knights who made approaches this week," he said.
